Gay TantraMany tantric traditions seem to carry the implicit assumption that tantric relationships are necessarily exclusive to heterosexuals. This may simply be a by-product of working with the fundamental masculine and feminine polarities which may be known as Shiva/Shakti, Animus/Anima or various other names in other traditions.
Although outwardly these polarities might seem to imply heterosexuality, one of the points of tantric practice is to balance these energies within the self and in relation to the rest of the universe. This can be done regardless of sexual orientation.
Something else to be considered is that on the path to tantric liberation, one becomes open to the full expression of love for all human beings regardless of gender or orientation. Heterosexuals may find themselves feeling more comfortable with same-sex intimacy just as gays may find themselves opening to the opposite sex. Ultimately the fully-liberated tantrika becomes divinely androgynous, fully embodying both their masculine and feminine aspects.
One other thing to consider is that although sexual preference and gender identitiy tend to exist on a continuum, society tends to assign arbitrary categories into which many people simply don't fit. Although they are quite different, society tends to lump gay men, lesbians, transexuals, transgenders and mahus (effeminate heterosexual males) together into one category. The listings on this page are not intended to perpetuate those stereotypes.
